Bio
Hi my name is Katerina Mosquera-Cardi, but Kat will do just fine. I’m from Montreal, Quebec, however I’m currently studying at the University of Maine, on a swimming scholarship.
There are many things that I’m interested in, that include but definitely is not limited to, swimming, the beauty of the great outdoors, photography, reading, writing, creating short films, and playing the guitar.

I’ve spent the past three summers working at a sleep away camp in the countryside of a small little town in the outskirts of Quebec and I’ve taken three outdoor education and environmental ethics classes in the past two years. I must say that those experiences have not only changed my outlook on life but have also shaped my love and appreciation for the environment that surrounds us.
I’ve also spent the past year working for an organization called WIAIH, which stands for the West Island Association of the Intellectually Handicap. I can’t really express how much working with the organization has changed me, but I can say that it has brought out qualities in myself that I thought I never had. I learnt valuable life lessons and it’s influenced the way in which I live my everyday life.
Creative Statement
I studied Media Arts in Cegep before coming to the University of Maine, and through those two years, I’ve grown to love expressing my creativity through photography and video. I’m studying New Media now, in hopes that I can continue to work with these mediums as well as being exposed to new forms of media art.
I want to create things that are meaningful and insightful; that will not only change people’s perspectives in a positive way, but will also make them aware of the issues that the world is facing today.
